The Youth Forum was established by the Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust to take art to a wider audience in the city. The Forum now has 20 committed young artists who work on a range of projects in collaboration with people from across the contemporary art spectrum.
The Youth Forum has recently been allocated a new home at th Millennium Galleries which they ave not yet occupied. The space is required to function primarily for the group, but also for occassional use by different user groups within the gallery.
The object of this Live Project is to develop innovative creative collaborations with the group to develop and realise designs for their space within th millennium galleries. The outputs of the project are threefold; firstly to physically transform the Youth Forum’ space in the short term. Then to develop detailed proposals and commission a multi-functional piece of furniture that will function as the focus of the space. And lastly to create a longer-term vision that will be realised with future funding.
The wider reaching aim of this project is to connect the situated practices of art and architecture within Sheffield, and addressing how the Forum’s actions could change the way people view Sheffield.
